Overview of Cancer Research Laboratory (CRL)
The Cancer Research Laboratory of Nagaland University was inaugurated on October 23, 2025, by
the Honourable Vice Chancellor, Prof. Jagadish Kumar Patnaik. Established as an in-vitro
experimental unit, the facility aims to advance molecular and cellular research in cancer
biology, drug delivery, and drug discovery. Reflecting the Vice Chancellor's vision to establish
high-impact cancer research at Nagaland University, the laboratory provides a controlled
environment designed to foster scientific innovation and support state-of-the-art biomedical
studies.
Objectives of CRL
- Provide detailed insights into cancer cell growth and spread, to support the
development of novel diagnostics and drugs.
- Facilitate the initial screening and identification of anti-cancer compounds
using in vitro models.
- Evaluate anti-cancer agents potency using approved in vivo animal models for
further validation.
- Assess the effects of selected chemical compounds on targeted genes and
cell-lines across varying doses and conditions.
- Investigate the therapeutic potential of traditional medicinal plant extracts
against cancer cells.
